Yes. The City of Le Mars encourages residents to "voluntarily" recycle and recycles
materials placed in designed 95-gallon blue recycling totes and/or blue recycling bags. 95-Gallon Blue Recycling Totes can be obtained by contacting City Hall. Your name and address will be placed on a list and a 95-Gallon Blue Recyling Tote will be delivered to your residence when time allows. Blue Recycling Bags may be purchased and are available at City Hall, Hy Vee and Fareway. All recyclable items can be placed in one blue tote and/or blue bag, no sorting is needed. Items should be rinsed and dry and there is no need to remove labels. The blue tote and/or full blue bags should be placed beside your trash cart during the "second full week" of each month (see Schedule above). There is no additional charge for a 95-Gallon Blue Recycling Tote and a resident may request more than one. There is no limit to the number of blue bags placed out for pickup.
RECYCLABLE ALLOWED ITEMS INCLUDE:
Glass - rinsed, unbroken, remove lids. Clear glass is the most valuable; amber glass is acceptable. No need to remove labels.
Tin Cans - food and beverage; caps, lids & foil - empty and rinse - hair spray cans, pam cooking spray cans - no need to remove labels.
Clear & Colored Plastics #1,#2, #3, #4, #5, & #6 (stamped on bottom); no plastics without recycling symbol - rinsed, no lids.
Plastic Bags are acceptable
Plastic Milk Jugs (no plastic lids)
Soap Bottles – i.e.: Joy, Ivory, Dawn, Etc. (no plastic lids)
Paper Products - Dry and clean; Newspapers (pack newspapers tightly in large brown grocery sacks or tie with natural twine), Magazines, Mixed Paper, Junk Mail.
Paper Bags, Computer Paper, Ledger Paper (separate), Christmas Wrapping Paper and Gift Boxes
Cardboards - Tissue Boxes. Cereal, Shoe and Beverage Boxes; Food Boxes without stains.
ITEMS NOT RECYCLABLE AND SHOULD NOT BE PUT IN YOUR BLUE TOTES/BAGS:
Envelopes with plastic windows
Plastic Lids
Lightweight Plastic Packaging
Tupperware-Type Carts
Oil Carts
Cottage Cheese Carts
Light Bulbs
Window Glass
Dishes Crystal
Drinking Glasses
Mirrors / Ceramics

These items should be put out with your regular trash.
