Becoming a Member

Requirements
To become a member of the Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department crew, an individual must meet certain requirements. Prospective members must:

• Be 18 years or older
• Have a high school diploma
• Have an Iowa drivers license with no moving violations in the past 2 years and no Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) convictions
• Not have a beard or muttonchops
• Pass a background investigation
• Pass a physical examination (no heart or lung medications)
• Pass a physical fitness test
• Speak the English language
• Undergo a probationary period (voted on by membership for regulars)
